30 Day Music Challenge: Day 7 – A Song That Reminds Me of A Certain Event

Samurai Pizza Cats Intro Theme

“They got more fur than any turtle ever had”

This reminds me of moving out into a place of my own for the first time.

Here’s a quick history lesson for you, or rather, a short bio. In year 11 I was sent to the boarding house of a Catholic school. Me n’ (institutionalised) Catholicism didn’t get along well, I lasted 5 weeks before being told my influence was ‘corrupting the other girls’. Cue a couple of months foster care, 18 months in a half-way house, until finally, at the age of 16, I got my own place.

You may be able to imagine what it was like to go from being ‘a child of the system’, so to speak, to suddenly having nought but a system of my own design to follow.

I celebrated this new-found independence by getting up early every morning to watch Samurai Pizza Cats then not going to school. That was sweet. Though in hindsight, not particularly smart. It would account for why I’m one of the oldest students in every single one of my current classes, completely clueless as to how either quoting The Big Bang Theory or saying ‘I can emailz’ out loud is considered the epitome of humour.

Let that be a lesson for you – using ‘lol-cat’ language in real life is even less funny than it is in captioned-photo format.

About Satellite for Entropy

My thoughts are fish, all swimming about and prone to scattering swiftly. Some of them are pretty but not all of them are gold. Some have teeth; some travel in gangs and with a single school of thought; some are haphazard loners, darting about the place randomly and to no obvious purpose. But they're all slippery little suckers. Sometimes, I get lucky and find myself with a good grasp on one, long enough to remember what it looks like before releasing it back into the wild.
